WOW!!
A whole month without blogging!!
Quick update for now, more later, I promise.
I passed with flying colors. This is a good thing - both for morale and confidence, and for IBS stress inducement symptoms. The thing is, the exam was not at all what I expected, yet it went well, and parts were even fun! We talked about napster. Market failure. Tree ring borers (those funny devices by which one bores a core, pulls it out and then counts the rings). Weird.
This past month has been very busy, occasionally stressful, and as always, movement toward clarity and awareness.
Immediately after the exam, we were on our way to a weekend in San Diego with the dysfunctional family. That was different. And won't ever be repeated. Whew!
And, of course, I was not in the mood to deal with all their antics, so I stayed apart and silent - the only way I know to protect myself in situations like that. Still, the stomach was incredibly unhappy the first two days. Oh well.
Then it was back to work, meet with committee members and the Dean in order to cobble a new more precise committee - e.g. 3 instead of 5.
Then throw myself into teaching - which has been a bit of a chore this year b/c I am not 100% into it. Too much other stuff on my mind. Am not alone on that, the others who are co-teaching are of the same frame. This is b/c the whole thing was so last minute. The kids are learning stuff anyway, it's just harder right now.
I need a rest - time to sit back and take stock.
No time until semester is over. OK, that's only 4 weeks away.
Up and down on the IBS - big news is the Magnesium connection. Did a test and am low, which could mean any number of things, but mostly that I need to up intake of mag supplements.
In doing so a number of interesting stuff happens: no more muscle cramps, hair is curling again (what's with that?), AND IBS is almost totally symptom free.
Yep, you heard right.
So, combo SCD, excercise, and magnesium. Oh, and am now at approx 700 mg per day.
Later
