Here's something coincidental. The day of my first magnesium injection, I felt great. The second day I went for my monthly 'tune-up' at my bodyworker. I don't know what, but she released something. The thrid day I came down with that cold - the worst I can remember in a long time, and the first in many years.
Coincidence? I think too much so.
Prior to that injection, as I had ranted about earlier, I noticed much change in the balance of my body's functions. My conclusion is that my body reached one of those plateau's of health on its way to better, and that it made a big release of toxic stuff. I am still going through the last vestiges of that release.
Notably, three days ago I had the second injection (there will be four total). The next day a skin eruption occurred, and is only now beginning to subside. Being dermatagraphic, I am not unused to a variety of skin occurrances. However, the last was over a year ago. Since that time I have been pretty good.
I think that as I regain some efficiency of many functions impaired by the magnesium deficiency (including better intestine function), my body must shift, realign, rebalance. In that process, it must shed any crutches developed over time - that compensated for the lack of efficient functions.
The next injection will be in two weeks. We will see what the next phase of adjustment brings. I have a feeling that the worst is over for a while. This was a major release period.
I hope to see improved functioning of all areas such as muscle tone, hormonal balance, and intestinal efficiency. No more constipation tendencies? Whoa. That would be the ultimate! So would remission of all pains, gas, cramps, etc. So far, the improvement is very noticable, athough still a bit uneven. Still. I am so getting used to regular elimination, that anything less is no longer acceptable!

My cold is greatly improved. So, it's true - that a cold takes a week, or seven days, to run through one's system. Anyway, I can breathe again.
I am still taking double doses of vitamin C, and will continue this for a few more days.
On another subject, I got another injection of magnesium today - 1 cc, whatever that means. What I do know is that this was a larger dose than the last injection two weeks ago. And, most likely I will get an even larger dose in two weeks' time when I go for the next shot.
This is interesting stuff. No side effects, other than a little 'burn' at the injection site (gluteous maximus) that fades off in about 20 minutes. And overall I feel rejuvenated. This is not an obvious thing, just a general feeling of physical well-being that I haven't felt in a very long time. And that I had missed!
My muscles don't hurt. I feel springier. No bowel complaints. What more could an IBSer want?

I have a head cold. I haven't had one in many years. I don't usually get colds or flu. I am miserable. (pronounced mizehwable). I have even resorted to nyquil for the last three nights. It really does help. And doesn't seem to bother digestion.
Am also taking lots of vitamin C. That seems to have a slight laxative effect. Am taking about 5000 mg/day. I hope it is helping my immune system fight this bug. Hard to tell though.
On another note: I was thinking about IBS and remedies, and the changeability of IBS, or rather the seemingly mutant capability of the intestines. I have noticed that I will try a remedy, and it will work, and I will be very happy, until several weeks later when the remedy no longer works b/c IBS has mutated or something. Kinda like the flu bugs and all of the antibiotic remedies out there. Every year the flu mutates; one year it's the Hong Kong flu, another year it's the Malaysian flu, etc. I think IBS is like that in a way. Variable. Unpredictable. Unnerving and frustrating.
I say this b/c I noticed these mutation-like changes over a series of remedies, including the use of aloe juice, fiber, dandelion root, and even magnesium. The latest, magnesium, is the best b/c it addresses fundamental system imbalances. Yet, after taking a certain dose/day for a few weeks, my IBS began to fidget. I admit that I am lightyears from the days of total constipation/punctuated with bouts of diarrhea. However, I noticed that once my body absorbed that dose of magnesium (which I admit wasn't enough for this magnesium-deficient body), the IBS symptoms began to surface. Then, once I upped the dose (substantially, I might add), my system returned to its new normal balance.
I still stick by the combination of SCD, fiber, and appropriate supplements prescribed by a naturopath doctor.
But I also understand that the treatment of IBS is one grand experiment that will continue to need adjustment until such a time that the condition goes into permanent remission.
Later.
