Did not do yoga yesterday.
Decided to be spontaneous instead.
I haven't felt able to be spontaneous in years... mainly due to the impact of IBS on my life. I am sure many of you out there understand this all too well. Need to feel safe, know where bathroom is, and that it is available. Know what foods are available, and safe. I guess it really is all about feeling safe and secure, not wanting to deal with any undue stress or surprises.
WOW!
IBS has such a power over the afflicted!
We become so used to ensuring our safety and security that we lose joie de vivre!
What greater proof can there be of the possibilities of normalcy than my journey back from the brink! What greater joy than reviving spontaneity in one's life!
So how spontaneous was I? After blogging, I thought about going to yoga, and my body was definitely not in 'active' mode (nor is it today - a function, no doubt, of onset of my menses). I suggested to Mike that we drive up to Mt Lemmon, where we would experience cool climate and a relief from the everyday.
So we did.
It was a spur-of-the-moment, get-in-the-car-and-go kind of day. We had a great time! And boy did we get cold! Top of the mountain is a good thirty degrees cooler, and we didn't bring sweatshirts; just went up in shorts, t-shirts and sandals.
Cold toes in July! What a blast!
I am looking forward to more bursts of spontaneity as I continue this journey toward perfect health.
Later.
