The New York Times has a poll today that asks "How Can People of Different Religious Faiths Understand One Another?"
I decided to answer. Here's what I had to say.
I don't believe we need to understand each other's faiths. We do need, however, to understand that humans are individuals with differing beliefs, values, goals, and hopes.
We need to understand tolerance for those differences, and allow for the wonder of diversity. We can learn from each other's diversity, which is always a positive because it expands our collective consciousness, creating more generous and civil humans.
As the collective consciousness expands, so does understanding and acceptance of diversity. It is a ripple effect that may eventually even include those who reject anything that lies outside the narrow circle of dogma that defines their lives (e.g. anything new or fearful).
I look forward to the time when we celebrate our diversity, welcoming those who differ from us into our hearts.

Other news: Yesterday was not a good day for my intestines. I had to go through a 2 bag enema, and I think I must probably do another today. I guess I am under more stress than usual. And I think the emotional strain since September 11 has taken a toll. So, even though I have been regular (including yesterday morning - but not enough to suit my warped sense of healthy doodies), I have also been experiencing discomfort, bloating, and funny little jabbing pains at different occasions.
And, of course, I have just ovulated. As women understand, this can be an unbalancing time b/c reproductive hormones spike, upsetting others.
Oh well. Tomorrow all will be better.
