What a week!
Last weekend you know about. Monday was hectic. I visited my grandmother on Tuesday, cooked and read on Wednesday, and went to the monthly homeowners' association meeting in the evening. Ran errands and generally didn't accomplish the reading and writing I wanted to on Thursday, and we had a seder with my parents, grandmother and brother and nephews. Phew! Last night my brother and our friend Sheila came over for dinner. That was nice. Since my bro is a single dad, it was pleasant for him to just be with adults...
We all had a great time, and the food was marvelous! See Mike's blog for details on the food.

I have been doing well this week. The only blockage was yesterday, a result of stress and eating too much too late at the seder on Thursday.

I have been eating a spoonful of dripped goat's milk yogurt each morning with my baked apple - to ingest the probiotics I need. Have been doing this a couple of weeks now, and I seem to be tolerant (unlike cow products). I finished the last batch yesterday, so tried some of the cow milk variety this morning. Different flavor, consistency. No immediate reaction. Will wait and see..

Mike is 'cooking' his yogurt in the yogurtmaker right now, so I won't be able to make more goat's milk yogurt until tomorrow.

Hmmmm. Should I go without, or should I take the cow's milk yogurt?

More later.

25.3.02

I last wrote on Thursday, the 21st. That night we went out to PF Changs for dinner. Big mistake for my tummy! The food was very tasty, but I paid for it for the next three days.
On top of that we went out for dinner Friday - Mike's parents came to town on their way to an Elderhostel adventure and we went to Terra Cotta. I did better foodwise b/c they offer salads...

PF Changs puts sugar and soy in just about everything.

I now know I am incredibly sensitive to sugar. Am not sure about soy b/c I don't use it, but I am quite sure the combination, along with myriad other 'unknowns' in the food, such as flour or other starches, milk products, etc, did me in. Oh, and don't forget the iceberg lettuce for the chicken wraps! Iceberg is known for its gas promoting quality.

By Saturday I was blocked. Today I am doing much better, thank goodness!

This was a good lesson in maintaining boundaries. Mike suggested Changs and I would have preferred somewhere I could get more compatible foods, but I agreed to it. No next time! If I am with a group that goes to a place like that I will just not eat. With my love, though, I can say NO, we're going elsewhere!

Yesterday was tough - needed to clean out my bowels with water to get unblocked. As well, I had a sensitive tummy all day. So, I ate very lightly, and will continue to do so for the next few days.

Ahhhh. IBS. Keeps me on my toes!

later.
