Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

Dinner: still in Houston; Cuban-style ropa vieja, asparagus, and spinach in a garlic sauce @ El Meson.

Lunch: veggie wrap, tunafish wrap. I tried to remove most of the wrap :-)

Breakfast: fruit.

Dinner: still in Houston, tapas @ Mi Luna on University (near Rice University). Awesome! I feasted upon the ensalada de la casa (mixed greens with roasted garlic balsamic vinaigrette, tomatoes, goat cheese, and toasted pine nuts), rabo de toro a la Sevillana (braised oxtail in a Rioja wine sauce), and berenjenas a la plancha con ajo (eggplant sauteed with garlic, olive oil, and fresh cilantro). I highly recommend this place. Only areas for improvement: fewer fruitflies, and I wish my wife could have been there to dine with me!

Dinner: in Houston, @ Massa's. Awesome seafood. Dined on halibut with artichoke hearts, asparagus, and crab meat. Appetizer of fried calamari (not as good as Mi Cocina's in NYC) and a salad of mixed greens and endives.

Lunch: crummy salad with chicken on top from the cafeteria where I am this week.

Still on vacation, folks. Here's a brief review of recent munchings.

Dinner yesterday @ Black Walnut in Doylestown, PA. Grilled salmon on a bed of Swiss chard, with a Kalamata olive tapanade. Non-SCD dessert: a few bites of a decadent chocolate mousse pyramid.
