A Regimen
for Remission
This
log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD
foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my
Crohn's in a drug-free remission.
Monkey-see,
monkey-don't
Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

This just in my email inbox:
A site like yours with food day after day by an veteran SCD follower is a
very nice addition in the SCD arsenal of information..It is precious per se
not only to newcommers but to all of us.The nice way You have done that is
an additional bonus
and the rich information You give day by day..I [e]specially liked the book
review you mentioned but I'd like more comment on her reasons WHY DID SCD not
work for her but in spite of it she recommends it?
Regards, Zdenko
Thanks, Zdenko! :-)
I have spoken to the author the new IBD book you are referring to (by Jini Patel Thompson titled
Listen To Your Gut!) and, in short, the author felt that too much time was needed in food preparation. I like Jini's book very much, despite her dissatifaction with the SCD! In our conversation over the telephone she indicated that she really didn't like to spend as much time in the kitchen as the SCD required. In defense of the SCD, I will say that my wife and I prepare the menus people see here in less than 30 minutes almost all of the time. I do not think that is too much time in the kitchen! Then again, I love to cook, I love to eat -- so modifying delicious recipes to be "good for me" is a worthwhile and fun challenge!

Dinner: grilled turkey burgers (with roasted red peppers, garlic, cumin, curry, and onion), sauteed cauliflower, and a tossed salad. Off to Disney tomorrow; read the archives or my natural beauty section in the interim.

Lunch: @ Rose Garden, Tucson's nationally-recognized (now how did that happen?!) all-you-can-eat Mongolian grill. A delicious stir-fry of veggies, meats, and a few rice noodles thrown in for texture. Yum!!
mhs@13:03
Snack: a mix of peanuts, cashews, pecans, raisins, and pumpkin seeds.

I had a wonderful commute to work today, listening to NPR. The interview with Aleksandar Hemon was fascinating and I want his new book The Question of Bruno. It contains a powerful collection of stories (he read from two of them) by a young Bosnian exile/refugee trapped in Chicago after the war broke out.
mhs@08:10
Breakfast: an apple, a peach, some nuts, and dccc. For those of you still trying to find a source for dry curd, here's a useful page: dccc sources.

Dinner: ribeye on the grill, grilled eggplant (from Ron), and a tossed salad. Mik and I have received tons of email about the new scdiet.org site! Thanks for your positive feedback! We hope everyone learns about how a change in regimen can help those suffering with IBD and IBS. Dessert: an After Eight mint :-)

Ron gave me an eggplant

Breakfast: fruit, maybe more.. only time will tell!Dinner: @ Seri Melaka, a Malaysian place here in Tucson. Yours truly (durian, the king of fruits) led the Malaysian mangia-fest with beef rendang, a stew of beef in ginger, coconut, chopped onion, and more; other dishes included rojak salad (delicious!!), kung pao chicken, and a hunan chicken dish.
