Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

Breakfast: homemade yogurt, applesauce.

Dinner, yesterday @ Feast: baked eggplant with tomatos and herbs, baked brisket of beef with carrots, julienned carrots and zucchini in a sesame oil sauce, steamed rapini with Kalamata olives. The Tucson Weekly likes Feast, too! Joining Laura and me for dinner: Sheila Shea and Melissa Diane Smith, author of the book "Going Against The Grain" (helpful for Celiacs, the obese, and SCDers alike).

I just finished reading The Botany of Desire: A Plant's-Eye View of the World, by Michael Pollan. This is a fun and enjoyable book about the beauty and downside of domesticated plants. Pollan points out how plants have evolved to satisfy our desires and causes us to ponder: who domesticated whom? Pollan also explores the dilemma of genetially modified food and the effects of biological monoculture throughout history.
