Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

NPR commentary by Joel Wright: "50% of what we learn in medical school is wrong" (Which part? Probably the part about 'diet has nothing to do with inflammatory bowel disease.)

I visited Singapore back in late 1995. It is a beautiful place with a wonderful mix of cultures and foods. It is also very clean. One could supposedly be punished for chewing gum or not flushing a toilet in a public place--two things I didn't bother to verify. At any rate, they like their country clean and free from sticky sidewalks and smelly restrooms.

Alas, NPR reports how American "bullying" has forced Singapore into selling chewing gum.

Lunch: who knows? I've been enjoying peach sorbet from a recipe of my own invention. Basically, I followed the recipe for a strawberry sorbet we made a few weeks ago. Both are delicious! Next time I make the peach version I'm considering adding 1/2 teaspoon of minced fresh ginger for a bit of "zip". I'll let you know how it comes out!

Breakfast: homemade applesauce and yogurt, Lois Lang's nut bread.

To celebrate the first dinner of monsoon: citrus margaritas (from scratch), puree of butternut squash with ginger, roasted poblano peppers stuffed with summer squash and zucchini, in three types: 1) goat gouda; 2) pepper jack; 3) goat cheese. A fireworks for the tastebuds followed by fireworks of lightning and thunder.
