Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

Happy Thanksgiving! We're listening to Tosca. Laura is making an SCD cheesecake and I'm working on our book.

Two weeks ago I wrote about a pre-Thanksgiving dinner gathering with my family. The day after tomorrow is the actual Thanksgiving holiday. Who knows what kinds of food it will bring? I do know that Laura and I are hoping to make some baked butternut squash and some SCD desserts.

Dinner: grilled salmon with a butter and dill sauce, sautee of Swiss chard with garlic. Delicious!

Dinner: sautee of carrots, scallions, onions, and ginger with ground turkey, seasoned with chili powder and cumin. Delicious!

Dessert: apple-pear crisp.

I went to Illinois over the weekend to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with my family. We had the usual assortment of foods (I stuck to the SCD stuff), as well as some SCD-legals for me (and everyone else): butternut squash puree with ginger; cauliflower "mashed potatoes"; sauteed green beans with garlic; spinach salad, and more. I think the butternut squash was a hit with the non-SCDers!

How does this SCD work? Here are some great explanations, thanks to the SCD & ASD web site: pecanbread.com.
