Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

Breakfast: Lois Lang's nut bread, homemade applesauce, homemade yogurt.

Dinner, yesterday: It rained almost all day yesterday. I got home, switched into some comfortable clothes, and enjoyed some leftover Malaysian beef rendang (beef with spices and coconut), oven roasted vegetables, and sauteed chard with ginger. Afterwards we listened to Serene while building a puzzle together. Listening to a Danish woman who lives in France singing in English while building a puzzle of a panorama of New York City at night as viewed from the harbor. Very sererene! :-)

Recipe to make a day perfect (after an otherwise not perfect but not so bad day): Take some homemade chicken soup, add 1/8 teaspoon of minced fresh ginger, heat these up to a boil. Wash some fresh spinach and put a handful at the bottom of the soup bowl. Ladle the chicken soup on top of the spinach. Add salt and pepper to taste. It's a warm, wonderful way to make any day a perfect day!

Variations: add a little fresh cilantro or Thai basil for some Asian flavor.
