Nirvana of Peristalsis

(also known as Mike's Flog)

A Regimen for Remission
This log tracks my regimen of attitude, exercise, stress management, and SCD foods. Since I started this regimen in 1997, I've been able to keep my Crohn's in a drug-free remission.

Monkey-see,
monkey-don't

Even though I may have experimented beyond the SCD from time to time, one must remember that everyone is different. Follow the intro diet for 3-5 days, and stick with the SCD until you are completely symptom free for at least one year before experimenting.

Dinner: roasted chicken in our new Rival crock pot. We got our 4-quart pot at Lowe's for an unbeatable $9.97. It may end up being a tad small, but it cooked our 3-pound chicken, veggies, basil, and white wine to a wonderful state of tenderness! Delicious, simple, and very convenient! Geez, why didn't I get one of these sooner?!

One of my favorite things about the weekend is all of the great cooking shows on public television. Going all the way back to college (and earlier?), I remember enjoying these shows and getting very excited about making what I just watched. Today I saw Simply Ming for the first time, with a special guest: Jacques Pepin. They made several dishes with a shrimp mousse, including Jacques' heavy-handed shrimp with shrimp toast. Ming's show was followed by Jacques' own new show, "Fast Food My Way", where he made some wonderful "chicken a grenouille", or chicken in the style of frogs' legs, as well as a decadent non-SCD chocolate cake. I'd rush into the kitchen and start preparing the chicken dish, but we're going out for an SCD dinner at the home of some friends!

Lunch: leftover grilled swordfish, sauteed snap peas, grilled eggplant.

I'm taking this opportunity to send all of Flog's visitors and fans a very Happy Holiday Hug! Warmest wishes from sunny Tucson!

Speaking of hugs, I just finished reading Jack Mitchell's book "Hug Your Customers". I recommend this book, as it contains lots of wonderful stories and tips for growing one's business - from sales, to finance, to product development to customer service.

We were in Chicago for the weekend and enjoyed an early Thanksgiving dinner with my family. We enjoyed grilled roasted turkey stuffed with apples and oranges, butternut squash puree, a "stuffing" of sauteed mushrooms and nut flour, and Laura's pecan pie for dessert.
